A.L.D.O.N.A.: Aldona: St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Saint Thomas Educational Complex on 14th February 2023 with immense zeal and enthusiasm.
Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferriera, M.L.A. of Aldona constituency, was the Chief Guest, while retired staff members Gurudas Malik and Marcus D’souza were felicitated for their eminent services along with Lavina Pereira on the completion of 25 years of her service to the Institution.
The Manager, Fr. John Robert M.S.F.S., Principal, Mrs Angelica Fernandes, Fr. Winston Barbosa M.S.F.S., Bros. Armstrong Robert, Thomas Kapili, P.T.A members, invited guests, staff, and students were also present on occasion.
In keeping up with the Indian tradition and culture, the lamp-lighting ceremony was held. Prayers were offered to the Almighty through a Prayer service by students followed by a welcome dance.
There was excitement and joy on the faces of the students as the cake-cutting ceremony took place at the countdown of 25.
In his address, Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferriera congratulated the Management and Staff for 25 years of S.T.E.C.
He appreciated Gurudas Malik and Lavina Pereira for their dedication to the educational field. He requested retired teachers not to waste their talent but continue their good work through communication and bonding with youth. He appreciated the efforts put in by the village schools to train students to gain real education. He wished that the people in the Aldona constituency should shine to the maximum, be a role models, lead the way in our state and make our country proud. He also stated that as light eliminates darkness, knowledge overcomes ignorance.
The Manager, Fr. John Robert and the Principal, Mrs. Angelica Fernandes, through their address, highlighted the instrumental role played by the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (M.S.F.S.) for the establishment of S.T.E.C. Gratitude was expressed to Late Fr. Francis Moje M.S.F.S. who acquired the land, Fr. Jerson D’Souza M.S.F.S. who developed it and Fr. Thomas Fernandes, M.S.F.S., the Chief Sponsor of the project.
They also thanked the dignitaries for their presence and expressed gratitude to the staff, students and all those involved in making the event a grand success.
The journey of 25 years of S.T.E.C. was presented to the audience through PowerPoint, featuring the achievements and activities of the Institution. The unveiling of new gadgets for Educational purposes comprising of laptops, mobile and sound mixers were done at the hands of the M.L.A. The exclusive launching of the official Higher Secondary School Website was also observed. The program was compered by Tr. Richard Melchior and Tr. Larisa Fernandes, while Tr. Josephine De Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
