Mapusa: In a thrilling display of strength and endurance, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, has clinched the top spot in the Inter Collegiate Power Lifting Men’s Championship 2024-25. The event, organized by Goa University, took place from December 16 to 20, 2024, at the Jubilee Hall, Taleigao Plateau.
Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, secured the runner-up position, while Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao, and Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, shared the third place.
One of the standout performers was Mr. Kayden Fernandes from Rosary College, Navelim, who was crowned the ‘Strongest Man of Goa University’. With a body weight of 64.4 kg, Fernandes achieved an impressive total of 555 kg in the Squats, Bench Press, and Dead Lift categories.
The presentation ceremony was graced by Mr. Sylvester Dias, College Director of Physical Education and Sports at Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao, and Mr. Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University. They presented trophies and medals to the winners.
