Panaji: St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa emerged champions of the Men’s Inter-Collegiate Handball Championship 2025–26, organised by Goa University, at the Goa University ground in Taleigao on February 10 and 11.
In a high-scoring final, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa defeated Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim 37–27 to lift the title.
Earlier, in the semifinals, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa outplayed Goa Medical College 16–5, while Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim secured their place in the final with a 31–20 win over VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao.
The Best Player (Men) award was won by Chandrakant Shirodkar of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
A total of 21 men’s teams participated in the two-day championship.
At the presentation ceremony, chief guest Dr. Sameer Patil, Controller of Examinations, Goa University, along with Balachandra Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up.
