PANAJI: St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, won both the Men and Women Basketball Championship 2022-23, organized by Goa University at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa University Campus, Taleigao-Goa held from 24th to 27th January 2023.
In the Men’s championship finals, St. Xavier’s College defeated Goa Medical College, Bambolim, with a final score of 47-34.
In the well contested Women’s championship finals, St. Xavier’s College defeated S.S. Dempo College, Cujira, with a mare margin of 26-25.
Earlier in the semifinals of the Women’s Section S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira defeated V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, with a score of 26-06, and St. Xavier’s College defeated Don Bosco College, Panjim with a score 37-18.
In the Men’s semifinals, Goa Medical College defeated Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, 37-19. And St. Xavier’s College defeated Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, 66-45
In total, 16 men’s and 9 women’s teams participated in the three days Inter College Basketball Championships.
