CANACONA – The stability test is finally conducted on five old buildings including one Municipal owned building identified for their unsafe and hazardous nature in Canacona Municipal area.
Canacona municipality has sought a Stability report from the Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi on the five old buildings including one of its own old municipal buildings in their jurisdiction.
A Team of Experts of Goa College of Engineering in Fermaguri conducted the Stability tests on all the five old buildings, four of which are privately owned, and even businesses/trades continue to be conducted there.
The experts tested a total of five old buildings, one owned by the Kankon municipality and four on private land in the presence of Municipal Engineer Dilkush Dessai and other staff.
Confirming the development, CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaonkar informed that the Stability Tests was conducted on the orders of the Court.
Gaonkar further stated that if the GCE experts terms all or any of these buildings unsafe and dangerous, the trade licences of the traders/businesses conducting business in these buildings will not be renewed, and possibly revoked.
‘Further, if any of these buildings is likely to cause any damage or harm to humans and other properties, then the demolition of these dangerous and unsafe buildings will be considered by the municipality’, Gaonkar informed.-
