New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday strongly condemned the alleged use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother from a Congress-RJD platform in Darbhanga, Bihar, calling it a “stain on democracy.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shah said the remarks were not only derogatory but also an affront to the dignity of Indian politics. “The use of abusive language filled with expletives against the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother is not only condemnable but also a stain on our democracy,” he wrote in Hindi.
Shah accused the Congress of sinking to its “lowest level” under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, alleging that the party cannot tolerate “a poor mother’s son” holding the Prime Minister’s chair for the past 11 years. “This clearly shows that the Congress party has returned to its old ways and character, through which it has always poisoned the country’s political culture,” he said.
The Home Minister further claimed that from Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister to his current role as Prime Minister, the Gandhi family had continuously tried to spread “hatred” against him. “Now they have crossed all limits of propriety. This is an insult to every mother, every son, for which 140 crore countrymen will never forgive them,” Shah asserted.
The controversy comes amid heightened political tensions in Bihar, where opposition parties have intensified their attacks on the BJP-led government ahead of upcoming elections.
