PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday announced that the Goa government has held preliminary discussions with Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite-internet division, on the company’s proposed entry into the state to enhance digital connectivity.
Sawant said he met Lauren Dreyer, Senior Business Operations Lead at Starlink, along with her team, in the presence of IT and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and senior officials. The talks focused on leveraging satellite-based internet services to strengthen Goa’s digital backbone.
“We discussed Starlink’s proposed entry into Goa to strengthen our digital infrastructure and enable high-speed, reliable connectivity across the State,” the Chief Minister said. He added that Starlink’s satellite services would significantly benefit remote villages, coastal and fishing communities, schools and health centres as part of the government’s Digital Goa vision.
Sawant noted that the collaboration carries potential across multiple sectors, including rural connectivity, the digital-nomad ecosystem, health, education, tourism, disaster management and maritime operations.
