PANAJI: Mohammed Umar Shaikh, Sparsh Kolwalkar, Devansh Sakpal, Ritika Chelluri, and Pragya Audi have secured their places in the finals of the State Badminton Ranking Tournament 2025, being held at the Indoor Stadium, Campal, Panaji. The tournament is organised by the Panjim Badminton Club and Panaji Krida Sankul, in collaboration with the North Goa District Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa, under the aegis of the Goa Badminton Association.
In the Boys U15 category, top seed Mohammed Umar Shaikh lived up to expectations, defeating third seed Atharv Sadaye 21-16, 21-18 in the semifinals. Sparsh Kolwalkar impressed by overcoming fourth seed Arnav Saraf 21-16, 21-13 to advance to the title clash. In the quarterfinals, Umar had beaten Vihaan Naik 21-14, 21-19, Atharv overcame Vishwa Parab 21-13, 21-13, Sparsh dispatched Neil Punjanibakshi 21-8, 21-12, while Arnav defeated Ateendra Gaonkar 21-10, 21-16.
In the Girls U15 section, third seed Pragya Audi created a major upset by ousting top seed Dimple Revankar 12-21, 21-19, 21-15 to secure a spot in the finals. Earlier, Dimple had defeated Ashbah Tahasildar 21-7, 21-14, Pragya edged past Avni Khyalia 21-19, 21-19, Anaya Kamat shocked fourth seed Palak Ramnathkar 21-10, 21-14, and Niharika Parwar overcame Aaryaa Metry 21-5, 21-13 in the quarterfinals.
In Boys U17, third seed Devansh Sakpal staged a spirited comeback to beat Advait Balakrishnan 11-21, 21-13, 21-12 in the semifinals, setting up a final against top seed Aarush Pawaskar, who had earlier defeated Devaj Vaingankar 21-17, 21-8 in the quarterfinals. Other quarterfinal results included Vansh Khedkar upsetting third seed Sudhanva Udupa 21-12, 21-10, and Devansh defeating fourth seed Atharv Sadaye 21-6, 21-11.
In the Girls U17 category, top seed Ritika Chelluri reached the finals with a 21-14, 21-18 semifinal win over third seed Saanvi Audi. Quarterfinal victories in this category included Ritika over Niharika Parwar 21-13, 21-12, Saanvi defeating Astha Poudel 21-7, 18-21, 21-4, Sufiya Shaikh overcoming Komal Kothari 21-6, 21-5, and fourth seed Dimple Revankar edging Shivanjali Thite 24-22, 22-20.
The finals promise an exciting showdown as these talented shuttlers vie for the championship titles in their respective age groups.
