Panaji: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant attended the NABARD State Credit Seminar and unveiled the State Focus Paper 2026–27 for Goa, outlining a priority sector credit potential of ₹16,512 crore aimed at strengthening inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the State.
The seminar was attended by Chief Secretary Dr V. Candavelou, Smt. Sandra Rodrigues, Deputy General Manager of the Reserve Bank of India, representatives from various government departments and regional heads of banks operating in Goa.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the State Focus Paper would play a crucial role in improving credit flow to priority sectors including agriculture, MSMEs, fisheries, allied activities and green initiatives, in line with Goa’s vision of inclusive, resilient and sustainable development.
On the occasion, Dr Sawant felicitated women farmers of Goa, describing them as the true pillars of the rural economy and inspiring champions of women-led development.
Urging NABARD, banks and financial institutions to extend proactive support, Dr Sawant said initiatives such as GoVAN must receive timely credit, working capital and market-linked finance to help self-help groups, women-led collectives, local entrepreneurs and rural producers scale up into a larger movement that strengthens village incomes while preserving Goa’s natural heritage.
He also called upon banks to treat fisheries as a sunrise sector and partner with fishermen and fisheries entrepreneurs. “Every fisheries household must be supported to move towards higher income, dignity and a secure future,” the Chief Minister said.
