PANAJI: Law Minister Nilesh Cabral today has said that State Registration Department has decided to conduct pre-counselling of the couple before marriage.
“In view of rising number of divorce cases, State Registration department has decided to conduct pre-counselling of the couple before marriage,” said Cabral
He further said that this was intended to better coordination and harmony within family a reduce the cases of dissolution of marriages.
“Government is desiring to streamline the marriage registration procedure. The foreign citizenship holders though of Goan origin now need to go to Civil Court for the Orders. It is desired to explore whether the District Registrar within the Department can be authorised to hold due enquiry and issue orders for registration of marriage,” he said
Cabral said that he Department has launched National Generic Document Registration System and online Marriage Registration by way of which the system of online payment of registration has been introduced.
He said, “Department desires to make the online payment mode available to all its services including notarial services like succession, Will etc. This would facilitate people to avoid dealing with cash and avoiding queue in Bank for payments through challan,”
Meanwhile, in order to establish a system to serve the last person in the Society and to reach out to them, Cabral said that his department is desiring to launch Citizen Facilitation Centres and Helplines within the Taluka Level Offices to help out any person to avail the services rendered by the Department.
