PANAJI: The third meeting of the State Steering Committee on Accessible Elections was held recently under the chairpersonship of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjay Goel, IAS, at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Altinho, Panaji.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of previous initiatives and discussed strategies to ensure that future elections in Goa are accessible, inclusive, and participative. Members were also briefed on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Goel emphasized the importance of strengthening electoral inclusion under the theme “Accessible Elections”, ensuring that every eligible voter, including Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), senior citizens, and marginalized groups, can take part in the electoral process with ease and dignity.
He also informed the Committee that the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls is being conducted with reference to January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. The exercise aims to maintain electoral rolls that are accurate, updated, and truly representative, enabling every eligible citizen of Goa to participate meaningfully in the democratic process.
