Aam Aadmi Party has said that CM Pramod Sawant is only making misleading announcements and empty promises to fool the people.
Spokesperson Valmiki Naik, addressing media today, said that Sawant’s stage-managed Statehood Day address was full of jumlas that were only intended to manage headlines and mislead the public.
Naik said that AAP had demanded that Goa Govt follow the Delhi model in providing comprehensive financial relief to all sections affected by the pandemic and the related restrictions, whether covid victims, or Corona warriors, or the common man suffering from the economic crisis.
Regarding the 2-lakh ex-gratia to poor families who have lost earning member, Naik stated that no notification or details have been given “in a few days” as promised by the CM. Naik said no answers have been given to questions such as what is the income bracket, does victim have to be sole earning member, and what is the total allocation for this scheme? Naik reminded Sawant that the ex-gratia amount announced by Arvind Kejriwal is for every single victim of covid-19, with no conditions or fine print to fool the people.
Regarding the so-called increase in the non-institutional care benefit for orphans, Naik alleged that this is an outright lie. He said the scheme has not even been notified yet, and let alone Rs. 4,000, not a single child is getting even the Rs. 2,000 as of date.
Naik stated that these two announcements made headlines, and people are waiting in hope that they will get some relief, but as demonstrated, they were nothing but jumlas. Naik challenged Sawant to announce the total actual figure of allocation for these two financial schemes of 2-lakh ex-gratia and for orphan monthly benefit, and stated that it would not even end up being 1% of the 277 crores Sawant have away to casinos owners.
Naik repeated his demand for proper compensation for all families of Covid victims, and monthly cash benefit for orphaned children and families. Naik also said no relief has been announced for self-employed Goans like rickshaw drivers, taxi drivers etc who have borne the brunt of the economic restrictions.
