PANAJI: With rise in Dengue cases, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today has urged all residents to stay safe from dengue during the monsoon by taking simple preventive steps.
“I urgee all residents to stay safe from dengue during the monsoon by taking simple preventive steps such as using mosquito repellents, wearing long-sleeved clothing and eliminating standing water,” said Rane
He further urged all Goans to recognize symptoms like high fever, severe headache, joint pain and rash.
“Seek medical attention immediately if symptoms arise. Protect yourself and your community by staying informed and proactive. Together, we can combat dengue and ensure a healthier future for all,” he added
The national vector-borne disease program’s health officer, Dr. Kalpana Mahatme, emphasized the link between rising dengue cases and increased construction activity.
“Construction projects in Colvale, Aldona, and Saligao bring in migrant colonies, leading to unsafe water storage practices that breed mosquitoes,” she said.
There were 117 confirmed dengue cases reported between January and May of this year; this number is anticipated to increase when June’s data is taken into account.
Compared to the 55 cases during the same period last year, there has been a notable increase.
