PANAJI: All Goa Private Bus Owners Association (AGPBOA) General Secretary Sudip Tamankar today has demanded postpontment of fitting digital meters for taxi’s saying that it was not specified according to the norms set by Supreme Court of India.
He also said that AGPBOA on Sunday formed a taxi unit to take up their demands particularly the issue of fitment of digital meters for vehicles and inquiry against app-based taxi service.
“What the state government is bulldozing all aspects and going against the Supreme Courts order. The state government has only finalised one seller and this is not correct, there was no competition,” said Tamankar
He demanded that the Transport Department should stop giving deadline to taxi operators to fit digital meters by July 24 or that their permits will be cancelled.
As per the notification, the total cost of digital meter at the time of installation including the digital meter integrated with Automotive Tracking device, emergency system and printer.
“The fitment will come with one year free maintenance and one year data and online monitoring charges including GST is Rs.11,234/-.,” the order states.
