PORVORIM: BJP Porvorim candidate and ex MLA Rohan Khaunte demanded that the state government should stop granting permissions for new commercial or residential complexes in the constituencies, which are already finding it tough to fulfil basic amenities to their existing residence.
Khaunte said that a balanced approach has to be there to ensure that present residents get all the basic facilities to meet their daily needs before burdening their area with more population.
“The state government should stop granting permissions for new commercial or residential complexes in the constituencies, which are already finding it tough to fulfil basic amenities to its existing residences. We are already solving the issues of underground cabling, water, sewerage and garbage handling,” said Khaunte speaking exclusively to Goemkarponn Editor Suraj Nandrekar during his campaign trail in the Porvorim constituency
He further said that a balanced approach has to ensure that present residents get all the basic facilities.
“My campaign has been gaining momentum and great response, only BJP can give a stable government to people of Goa, politics has been changing, and he was always vocal in voicing out opinions whether it in opposition or ruling,” he said
Speaking on politics, Khaunte said that the Congress party has been decimated in the state, and other parties like TMC and AAP are only coming to Goa to increase their vote share and project themselves as a national party.
“We need a double engine government in Goa to take the development forward; BJP will form the next government with an absolute majority, and people will once again repose faith in BJP,” Khaunte said.
He said that he has been an independent MLA for the last consecutive two terms that he has performed during his tenure as MLA and then minister and that the people of Porvorim have witnessed the change in the constituency.
“Porvorim was quite neglected in terms of basic amenities, garbage, sewerage, underground cabling and water, and we have now got solutions,” he said.
Khaunte said that people want to see development every day and that he has carried out works of Rs 1,000 crore during his tenure.
