Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chief Officer Deepesh Priolkar on Thursday evening announced that the Shigmotsav parade in Port Town will be held on 3rd April and strict timing will be followed for all the competition during the parade amidst the code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Priolkar along with MNSS members while addressing the media also said that the float parade will end strictly by 10 PM
“Amidst the code of conduct , we will have restrictions and we want to ensure that there is no violation of any sort and we will take all care in this regard. The main restrictions are on timing and we have discussed with the MNSS members and decided that the parade of floats will be held strictly between 4 PM to 10 PM only. We cannot have unlimited entries because of time restrictions and we will have only 10 entries for Romtamel, 10 entries for Floats, 10 entries for folk dance and 20 entries for Fancy Dress which includes 10 entries each for senior and junior categories. We will close the entries strictly before 5 PM on 2nd April and in case we get more entries, we will resort to a lottery system in each category. We will also request all the participants to arrive strictly within the time slots allocated to them so that we can strictly adhere to timing restrictions. We will also have a screening committee to ensure that no float will have any political views or any political images and we will also be helped in the screening by the election machinery teams,” said Priolkar.
