The disturbing event at Camurlim Primary School, where a teacher used a steel rule iron to violently strike a 9-year-old pupil in the 4th grade for allegedly shredding pages from a textbook, has caused widespread indignation.
The student’s parents filed a police complaint against two teachers at the Colvale Police Station after he suffered severe injuries to his hand and back.
The incident happened when the student tore two pages out of his textbook in a fit of youthful mischief. In response, the teacher became enraged and hit the boy on his hand, elbow, and back with a steel rule.
The student yelled out in anguish, begging for the beating to stop, because the onslaught was so intense. But instead of showing pity, the teacher persisted in her attack.
Colvale police had filed an FIR against a lady teacher from Primary School at Camurlim for allegedly assaulting a 9-year-old fourth standard student for tearing pages from his book.
