CALANGUTE: Calangute Police Station marked Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations with an awareness skit competition for students of Bardez taluka on Tuesday, 2 September 2025.
The event, held at the Calangute Police Station premises, drew participation from 12 schools across Bardez, with nearly 250–300 people — including students, teachers and community members — in attendance.
Themed around drug abuse and cyber fraud, the competition aimed to sensitise young minds and the wider community about the growing threats and consequences of these issues. The skits presented by the students were described as informative, engaging and thought-provoking.
The programme was attended by SP North Rahul Gupta and SDPO Porvorim Vishvesh Karpe. The competition was judged by PI ANC Meera D’Silva and PI Cyber Crime Deepak Pednekar, who evaluated the performances on creativity, clarity of message and overall impact.
Commending the efforts of the participants, the Calangute Police Station said the initiative successfully promoted awareness and education on pressing social concerns, while also encouraging youth involvement in community-oriented campaigns.
