CALANGUTE: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided stores in Calangute that were selling inferior cashew nuts, seizing items valued at Rs. 1 lakh.
Along with closing three stores that were operating without the required license, FDA agents also confiscated inferior cashew nuts from three stores.
The FDA had been notified of multiple complaints regarding the sale of inferior cashew nuts in North Goa’s coastal districts.
Taking note of this, the FDA launched a special campaign to guarantee visitor safety throughout the current tourism season.
At Calangute, six cashew nut stores were inspected by FDA agents. After it was discovered that three of the stores were operating without an FSSAI license, the stores were told to close.
Following verification, the FDA discovered that the cashew nuts offered in three stores were of subpar quality. The proprietors of the shops were selling cashewnut packages made from a combination of ruined and good cashew nuts.
