PONDA: With rampant sand mining at Khandepar for the past many days in the Khandepar river basin, locals are complaining about the danger of river bank erosion and threat to the locality.
Following complaints by locals to Deputy Collector Dharbandora and the Captain of Ports, conducted a raid on illegal sand mining, which was carried with the help of a suction pump at Shenre Khandepar from the Usgao side and the illegal suction pump along with the boat was seized.
Locals demanded strict action against people involved in illegal sand extraction in a hazardous manner from the Khandepar river.
For the last 2 years, Soil erosion due to sand mining at the bank of the river Khandepar is in a large scale, thus endangering protected monument.
At the bank of the river at Shenkre, Khandepar, there exist Pandava caves Arcealogical site, which is a protected one.
