PANAJI: Advocate Amit Palekar has termed the summons issued by the Panaji Police to various protesters and political leaders in connection with last week’s 39A protest as a “political conspiracy.”
Addressing the media, Palekar alleged that the move is an attempt to silence voices that raised concerns during the protest. He claimed that those who participated in the agitation were exercising their democratic right to express dissent and question the government.
“The issuance of summons to protesters and political leaders shows that the authorities are trying to intimidate and suppress those who spoke out,” Palekar said, adding that such actions undermine democratic principles.
The Panaji Police had reportedly issued summons to several individuals in connection with the protest held in the city last week. Further details on the case are awaited.
