PANAJI: Sunny Sports Club clinched the Goa Cricket Association A Division North Zone 2025 to 2026 title after defeating Karimabad Cricket Club by four wickets in the final played at the GCA ground in Porvorim.
Batting first, Karimabad Cricket Club were bowled out for 154 runs in 40.2 overs. Aaditya Kota anchored the innings with a patient 51 off 95 deliveries, while Vasu Tiwari added a quick 25 from 20 balls and Siddharth Karpe contributed 25 off 43. Karimabad showed signs of recovery after losing two early wickets at 42 runs, but frequent middle order setbacks prevented them from building a larger total.
Sunny Sports Club’s bowling attack was led by left arm spinner Heramb Shankar Parab, who delivered a decisive performance by taking five wickets for 33 runs in nine overs. Nilkant Tampore also impressed with figures of three for 27 in nine overs, maintaining tight control over the scoring. Samarth Rane and Harshavardhan Bairgond supported well with a wicket each.
Chasing a target of 155, Sunny Sports Club reached 158 for six in 32.3 overs to secure the title. The team started aggressively, scoring 29 runs in just 2.2 overs, but a cluster of wickets reduced them to 65 for three and briefly shifted the momentum.
At that stage, Abhishek Pawar played a composed and responsible innings, remaining unbeaten on 57 from 75 balls with seven boundaries. Jeevan Chittem provided strong support with a lively 41 from 35 deliveries that included four fours and three sixes. Captain Aryan Narvekar added an important 25 from 41 balls to stabilise the chase. Pawar, along with Moh Huz who remained not out on two, guided the side safely to victory.
For Karimabad Cricket Club, Anuj Yadav was the most effective bowler with figures of three for 33, while Atharva claimed two wickets for 34. However, the remaining bowlers struggled to maintain pressure.
Heramb Parab’s outstanding five wicket spell and Pawar’s unbeaten half century proved decisive as Sunny Sports Club completed a controlled chase to lift the championship trophy.
