PONDA: Ponda police have registered a case against two women for allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth over ₹1.14 crore from a jewellery establishment in Ponda.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Damodar Raikar of Shukra Jewelers, Ponda. As per the complaint, the incident occurred prior to March 26, 2026, at TNK.
Police said accused Pratiksha Shinde, a resident of Savoi-Verem, Ponda, who was working as a supervisor-cum-manager, allegedly conspired with Jiya alias Kirti Shigaokar, a resident of Shiroda, Ponda, and dishonestly committed theft of gold ornaments of different make.
The stolen ornaments are reported to weigh 695.080 grams and are valued at ₹1,14,66,782. Police said the accused allegedly cheated the complainant to the tune of the said amount.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Prajyot Bakhale of Ponda Police Station.
