PANJIM: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the sustaining high windspeeds at surface level has weakened over Goa.
“But the windspeeds at around 1.5km above mean sea level is still around 25kts and likely to continue for 24 hours more. Hence there is still probability of heavy(6-11cm in 24hrs) to very heavy rainfall(equal or greater than 12cm in 24hrs) at one or two locations over north and south goa districts.” the IMD said
Regions such as ghat sections and vulnerable areas may be kept under watch.
It further says that there is possibility of a new low pressure area formation over bay of bengal by around 9th August.
“As per present observations, even though its impact over West coast is likely to be lesser than the last one (between 3rd to 6th August), it is requested to be kindly updated with the latest Forecasts and warnings issued by IMD in coming days.” the Department informed
