KAVLEM: Kavale Math Shrimat Shivananda Saraswati Swami has petitioned the Bombay High Court in Goa to have a formal complaint against him filed by the Ponda police revoked.
Swami, attorney Manohar Adpaikar, and Avadhut Shivram Kakodkar have all been charged with forgery, impersonation, and fraudulent property sales in Kavale-Ponda.
Surgeon Dr. P S Ramani and others filed a complaint alleging that Shrimat Swami produced fictitious documents pertaining to the Math family’s property rights, which served as the basis for the case.
The complaint claims that Shrimat Swami gave Avadhut Kakodkar a power of attorney by falsely claiming to be the former Swami of the Math. According to reports, the Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwa Vidyalaya purchased land in Kavale from the Math using these documents.
Additionally, the complainant claimed that although Swamiji is the Mathadhipati (head of the Math), he is not a trustee and that only the Trust is able to carry out transactions involving real estate and other assets.
Shrimat Swami has now filed a court suit in an attempt to halt the FIR. The High Court postponed the case until February 26 after sending letters to the respondents, including the Ponda police, on Wednesday.
