QUELOSSIM: In a notable political development, Swoosie Mazel D’Souza was on Friday elected unopposed as the new Sarpanch of the seven-member Quelossim Panchayat.
Sources revealed that another panch member, Lopinho Xavier, had also filed his nomination for the post. However, his candidature was rejected after it failed to receive a seconder, paving the way for D’Souza’s unopposed election.
Expressing gratitude to her fellow panch members, D’Souza said she was committed to taking up various development works during her tenure. “I will work unitedly with all the panch members to ensure uniform development across the entire Quelossim Panchayat jurisdiction,” she stated.
