ZUARINAGAR: A family dispute turned violent in Zuarinagar on Monday morning, leading to a public brawl and sword threats that left locals shaken. Verna Police arrested one businessman Parshuram Harijan (41) in connection with the incident.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:30 am near the Hanuman Temple in Zari, Zuarinagar. A group of six individuals, all residents of Zuarinagar, engaged in a heated fight in a public place over a family dispute.
The accused have been identified as Parshuram Harijan (41), Yamnappa Harijan, Manjunath Harijan, Hanumantha Madar, Rudreshkumar Madar, and Parshuram Madar — all adults and residents of Zuarinagar, Sancoale.
During the altercation, accused Parshuram Harijan allegedly brandished a sword and threatened the opposing party, causing fear and panic among onlookers. His actions reportedly disturbed the public peace and created a tense atmosphere in the locality.
Based on a complaint filed by PSI Ramchandra Naik on behalf of the state, Verna Police registered an offence under Section 194(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and Section 27(1) of the Arms Act.
Parshuram Harijan, who is a businessman by profession and resides in Zari, Zuarinagar, was arrested on Monday evening and has been placed in police lock-up.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Mahesh Bomkar of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam
