PANAJI: The Directorate of Tribal Welfare appeals Schedule Tribe Students to take advantage of Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana Scheme which aims to provide a financial assistance to the Schedule Tribe Students.
The scheme aims to provide additional financial assistance to the Schedule Tribe Students to meet the expenses on food and travel. The scheme also aims to provide additional disability allowance to cover the expenses of students belonging to Schedule Tribes community with disability.
Students belonging to Schedule Tribes community in the state of Goa with family income not exceeding Rs. 5,00,000/- per annum and studying post matriculation courses in recognized institutions are eligible to avail benefit under the scheme. Student should be a regular and full time student of an institution.
Additional Maintenance allowance awarded under the scheme is now enhanced from Rs. 750/- p.m. to Rs. 900/- p.m. for a day scholar. The allowance is enhanced from Rs. 1,500/- p.m. to Rs. 1,800/- p.m. for a hosteller and additional disability allowance of Rs. 750/- p.m. has been enhanced to Rs.900/- p.m. The enhanced benefit will be awarded to all the eligible students who have applied for the scheme from current academic year i.e. 2024-2025. The Scholarship is awarded for 10 months in a Academic year.
The detailed eligibility of the scheme and other conditions are available on (https://tribalwelfare.goa.gov.in/). The students shall submit online applications on the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Portal (https://cmscholarship.goa.gov.in).
The last date of submitting online applications is January 15th, 2025.
