AERIAL VIEW
It’s such a. shame that our politicians still try to influence the “gullible” voters, who get influenced by an insignificant amount of Rs 10,000. For politicians, who have looted the State for five years, this amount is peanuts and also a good investment as they know if they are elected, they can make a hundred times more money.
However, accepting money though “unethical” isn’t “sinful”, but voting for the same people will surely be a “disaster” for Goa.
In the last two decades, we have seen how Goa has been looted by the politicians, and another chance would mean an end to Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn.

In a high-voltage election wherein the BJP is vying for the third consecutive shot at power, the voters are being lured with several freebies and “gifts” by several parties in the fray.
Almost nine political parties, the BJP, Congress, AAP, TMC, MGP, Goa Forward, Shiv Sena, Revolutionary Goans etc., are in the fray.
With another 12 days left for the polling day, the party candidates have started luring the voters with “envelopes” and gifts.
From Rs 3000 to Rs 10,000 per family is distributed across the State, influencing voters, especially the youth (including college students) who are paid around Rs 2000 per day for campaigning.

Since 2017, we have seen how politicians have changed sides for their benefit. The least on their mind is a constituency and the people. Self-interest comes first for any politician today.
So while the politicians are least bothered about Goem and Goemkar, we, the people, have to think about who and what is good for Goa and our constituency.
If we take money today and vote for these politicians, we lose our right to question them, we lose the right to basic needs, we lose the right to seek justice because the leaders will always say they have “purchased” your vote and you have no right to question them.
We saw several agitations in the last five years, be it for three linear projects in Mollem, Mhadei, casinos, mining and so on, but sadly not many politicians or the government came forward to help. Even during the COVID19 pandemic, only a few helped the people of their constituency.
Did we ever think about why this happened? It happened because we voted for leaders for just a few thousand rupees or based on religion, etc. Since they purchased the votes, the leaders feel they have no obligation towards the people.
Instead of voting for the candidate based on his religion and social status, Goans will have to see his education and honesty, as educated persons will have more knowledge and understand things better, unlike the uneducated people, who became the PWD and the education minister in the past.
Before voting for the candidate, Goans, please do see the background of the person, for example, the criminal antecedents etc.
There are already candidates who have been allegedly involved in corruption, sex scandals rackets. People must think twice before voting for them.
Today we will vote for the people getting attracted to a few thousand rupees, but the same politicians will make hundreds of crores from just your one vote. So Goans, please vote wisely.
