Panaji: A magnificent unbeaten century from Tanisha Singh guided Delhi women’s cricket team to a comfortable seven wicket victory over Goa women’s cricket team in the Women’s Under 23 Elite One Day Trophy. The match was played at the Ayush Cricket Academy Ground 1 in Dehradun on Wednesday.
Batting first, Goa posted a competitive total of 198 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs. Harshita Yadav led the scoring with a brisk 47 runs from 45 balls that included ten boundaries. Captain Tanaya Naik anchored the innings with a steady 44 off 93 deliveries, while wicketkeeper Tanisha Gaikwad contributed 31 runs from 48 balls.
Additional support came from Swarali Kasar who scored 25 runs, and Palak Arondekar who remained unbeaten on 29 to help Goa reach a respectable total.
Among the Delhi bowlers, Madhu delivered an impressive spell, claiming three wickets for 32 runs in her ten overs. Parunika Sisodia took two wickets, while Bharti Rawal and Tanisha Singh picked up one wicket each.
Chasing 199, Delhi had an early setback when Mansi Sharma was dismissed for just four runs. However, captain Tanisha Singh steadied the innings with a commanding performance. She produced an outstanding unbeaten knock of 100 runs from 89 balls, striking 13 boundaries.
Singh found strong support from Vanshika Lila, who scored 53 runs from 53 deliveries. The pair built a crucial 106 run partnership for the third wicket that effectively sealed the match for Delhi. Monika later added an unbeaten 10 runs as Delhi reached 201 for 3 in 38.3 overs.
For Goa, Metali Gawandar claimed two wickets, while Pooja Kalel picked up one.
With this result, Goa finished fifth among the six teams in the group, registering one victory and four defeats in their five matches.
