VERNA: Verna Police have registered a case against a tanker driver following a fatal road accident at Zuarinagar, Sancoale, on September 30, 2025, around 3.55 pm. According to a state complaint lodged by Head Constable Shiva Naik of Verna Police Station, the accused driver, Mohardesh Shaikh of Zarint, Zuarinagar, native of West Bengal, was proceeding from MES College junction towards Dabolim when he allegedly drove his tanker in a rash and negligent manner and rammed into an Activa scooter from behind near 13 Studio Unisex Saloon. The scooter rider, Akash Pawar of Nagpur, Maharashtra, and his pillion rider, Madhukar Parab of Thane, Maharashtra, fell on the road and sustained serious injuries. While Pawar was injured, Parab was rushed to SDH Chicalim by 108 Ambulance, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police said the accused fled the scene with his tanker without rendering aid or informing authorities. The case is under investigation by LPSI Pramila Fernandes of Verna Police Station.
