BICHOLIM: Bicholim fire force department received 62 calls including 20 major calls of house damage in last three days due to cyclone.
According to the information provided by the fire force official, Shripad Gawas the cyclone has created havoc in Bicholim and they were kept on their toes since last three days.
“About 20 houses were damaged due to tree falling incidents and out of the 62 calls we have attended 29 calls. In a major tragedy three houses at Shrigao were damaged after a huge banyan tree came crushing the houses” Gawas told.
As per the information available from the electricity department in all more than 30 electricity poles were damaged and they have been able to complete 85% work.
In several places like Sarvan, Mayem, Menkurem electricity was still to be restored.
“This is a major cyclone and in several places trees have damaged houses and a school was also damaged at Mayem” former Mayem Sarpanch, Tulshidas Chodankar told “because the electricity poles have been damaged current has still not restored.”
