CANACONA: Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar announced a job roadmap and the setting up of training centres in the constituency while inaugurating a series of developmental works, including a drainage project at Agas–Loliem.
Speaking after launching the ₹40 lakh drainage construction work on Friday, Tawadkar said the focus is now shifting from infrastructure development to human development aimed at improving employment opportunities and overall satisfaction among residents. He stated that a team from Delhi has been invited to help prepare a comprehensive human development roadmap, which may take several months to formulate and years to fully implement.
Tawadkar announced that a permanent coaching centre for staff selection examinations will be opened in Canacona to train local candidates for recruitment processes. He further said that from April 15, a Police Bharti Prashikshan Kendra will begin functioning, offering one-month and three-month training courses. Candidates completing the training will be able to apply for various recruitment processes, including staff selection examinations and Goa Public Service Commission posts.
The minister also said that women in the constituency will be trained in weaving Kunbi sarees, with participants to receive a monthly stipend of up to ₹15,000 for a period of one year. The initiative aims to promote traditional skills while creating livelihood opportunities for women.
Earlier, Tawadkar inaugurated the drainage construction work at Agas–Loliem. ZP member Ajit (Ajay) Lolienkar, Loliem-Polem Sarpanch AC Nisha Chari, panchayat members, former sarpanches Bhushan Prabhugaonkar, Sachin Naik and Pratiza Bandekar, among others, were present.
The minister also launched resurfacing, strengthening and hot-mixing of a road at Dupyamoll, Bhatpal in the presence of Shristhal panchayat members and local residents.
