CANACONA: Minister for Tribal Welfare, Art & Culture, and Sports & Youth Affairs Ramesh Tawadkar has responded to former minister Isidore Fernandes’ criticism regarding the non-completion of works initiated during Fernandes’ tenure. Speaking at the inauguration of a water supply pipeline at Ave–Khotigao on Friday, Tawadkar indirectly addressed the allegations without naming Fernandes.
Tawadkar said certain individuals were spreading “misleading information” and urged people not to pay attention to such claims. “Certain individuals come and spread unnecessary falsehoods; do not pay attention to them. Their dishonesty will be exposed by the people themselves. Today’s youth are aware and sensible,” he remarked. He further stated that as an elected representative, he is already aware of people’s concerns and strives to address them without waiting for issues to be brought to him.
Emphasising his commitment, Tawadkar said that during his current term “nothing is impossible” for him. “Whatever government works are there, we will get them done, no matter what. And if any work is not possible through the government due to inadequacy of paperwork, I will do it through Shram-Dham. Shram-Dham doesn’t require any paperwork, so whichever work is not possible through the government, I will get it done through Shram-Dham,” he asserted.
Fernandes, who recently joined the Goa Forward Party along with 15 of his supporters, had criticised the present MLA for failing to complete projects he initiated, such as the Krishi Ghar, Fire Brigade complex, supply pipeline from Gaunem dam, improvement of supply lines, construction of overhead tanks, and several other works. He also alleged that Tawadkar “has no vision for Canacona except asking for money.”
