Arambol: A taxi driver attached to the Goa Miles service was allegedly assaulted and wrongfully restrained by an unidentified person at Khalchawada, Arambol, on Saturday afternoon, over a dispute concerning passenger pickup.
According to the complaint filed by Purushottam Parshuram Kale (27), a resident of Sancoale, the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on October 18 when he had gone to pick up passengers in his taxi (registration number GA-06-T-9143). The accused allegedly wrongfully restrained him, abused him in filthy language, and punched the side window of his taxi, before attempting to assault him.
The Mandrem Police have registered an offence under Sections 126(2), 131, 324(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for wrongful restraint, causing hurt, and use of criminal force.
PSI Abhishek Chodankar of Mandrem Police Station is conducting further investigation.
