CANACONA: Canacona Police have registered a case against ten taxi drivers for allegedly restraining and abusing another driver near a resort at Palolem.
According to a complaint filed by Mayur Rane of Sirvoi–Quepem, the incident occurred on 18 November 2025 around 3:45 pm near Marron Sea View Resort, Palolem. The complainant stated that his driver, Shaheed Abdul Majid Betkari, was on his way to pick up customers when he was allegedly stopped by Viraj Pagi, driver of a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, along with nine other taxi drivers.
The group, acting in furtherance of a common object, reportedly formed an unlawful assembly, wrongfully restrained Betkari, and abused him in filthy language over taxi-related rivalry in the area.
Canacona Police have registered an offence, and further investigation is being conducted by ASI Anand Naik.
