Dabolim: Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho held an interaction with members of the taxi community at Dabolim Airport to discuss their concerns and suggestions related to operations and facilities at the airport.
Speaking after the meeting, Godinho said taxi operators play a crucial role in Goa’s tourism sector as they are often the first point of interaction for visitors arriving in the state.
“Goa’s economy thrives on tourism, and taxi operators represent the hospitality and service spirit of our state. It is important that their concerns are heard and addressed through constructive dialogue,” Godinho said.
The minister said taxi operators had earlier requested the removal of certain rate boards installed at the airport. He stated that the issue was addressed promptly and the boards were removed on Saturday morning.
Godinho also said the matter of meter charges was discussed during the interaction. He reiterated that, as assured by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, taxi operators shifting to the digital platform will not have to bear these costs.
He appreciated the United Taximen Association for engaging in constructive discussions and expressed hope that collaborative efforts would help arrive at practical solutions that benefit taxi operators as well as Goa’s tourism ecosystem.
