MOPA: Tension erupted at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, on Wednesday after airport authorities suddenly began strictly implementing a two-minute window for passenger pickup and drop-off. Drivers who exceed the limit are being fined ₹180, sparking sharp resentment among local taxi operators.
The operators accused airport concessionaire GMR of “unfairly targeting” them with what they called an impractical and punitive rule. The swift enforcement disrupted vehicular flow outside the terminal, resulting in confusion, delays, and frustration for passengers and drivers alike.
Demanding the immediate rollback of the penalty system, taxi operators urged the airport management to adopt a more realistic traffic-handling plan. They cautioned that they are prepared to escalate their agitation if the issue remains unaddressed.
