PANAJI: TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane acknowledged the sensitivity of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department, comparing it to walking a tightrope, in response to harsh criticism over zoning changes and land conversions.
TCP is a contentious investment option. I did not become a minister in order to deceive Goans. The department needs to be managed with tact. Errors may occur occasionally… While working, we must use caution,” he stated.
In response to queries from MLAs, notably Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao, about the conversion of 1.40 crore square meters of land, Rane clarified that it happened prior to his appointment as TCP minister.
He added that the government is dedicated to the new amendment under Section 39A, which has been introduced with public complaints and suggestions, and that there was no purpose to affect any NDS (No Development Slopes) or fields.
Rane also said that disinformation was being propagated on social media by some users, criticizing them for abusing the tool to damage their reputations.
