ARAMBOL: The Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has cancelled the provisional permission granted for the change of zone at Arambol, TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane announced on Tuesday.
The decision follows concerns raised by local residents of Arambol, who met the minister and expressed strong objections to the proposed change. After reviewing the matter, the department decided to withdraw the permission in the interest of the people, the minister said.
“After the people of Arambol met me and shared their concerns, the matter was carefully reviewed and the decision was taken in their interest. I have assured the people of Arambol and Pernem that their sentiments will always be respected,” said TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane.
Rane further stated that public welfare, environmental protection and balanced development would remain key priorities of the government.
“With the blessings of Shree Devi Bhagwati, I draw strength to continue serving the people and to work with commitment, responsibility and sensitivity towards public concerns. I will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a balanced approach towards health, holistic development, environmental protection and the overall well-being of the people,” he added.
The TCP Minister also clarified that the official notification confirming the cancellation of the provisional permission will be issued shortly.
The move has been welcomed by locals, who have been opposing zoning changes in the coastal village citing environmental and livelihood concerns.
