VARCA: The Town & Country Planning Department has reported a case of major unauthorized land development at Varca after its Dy. Town Planner, Prakash Bandodkar, lodged a complaint with the police.
According to the complaint, unknown individuals trespassed onto a property in Varca village and carried out large-scale development without obtaining mandatory permissions or displaying signboards indicating approved work.
The accused allegedly constructed a kutcha road, cleared wild bushes, levelled the land, damaged vegetation and sand dunes along the seaside, and built a compound wall on either side of the road stretch. The activities reportedly violate the TCP Act and also fall partly within the CRZ jurisdiction, making the development illegal on multiple fronts.
The case is being investigated by PSI Prashant Bhagat of Colva Police Station.
