PANJIM: With massive spike in Covid positive cases in Goa, the Teachers Association of Goa have written to Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik asking for his intervention in regards to the state government’s failure to implement MHRD circular allowing teachers to work from home during the pandemic.
Goa Government had made it mandatory for teaching and non teaching staff to attend school from June 24.
Higher Secondary School Teachers Association- Goa (HISTAG) President Anant Pissurlekar said that its high time now that teachers call upon the Governor to file the repetition with regards to allowing teachers to work from home according to the guidelines issued by the centre in the interest of educational sector.
“Earlier we had met the secretary of Education Nila Mohanan and the director of Education Vandhana Rao requesting them to allow teachers to work from home. “But since there has been no positive response from the authorities till date, we should seek for Governor intervention,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Associations claimed that teachers are doing their duty of conducting online classes with complete dedication. They feel that in wake of rising coronavirus cases, the safety of teachers needs to be given importance.
It can be recalled that, Union Ministry for Human Resources Development (MHRD) in a recent guidelines issued to States have asked to keep schools close till July 31 while encouraging online studies. And wherever necessary to allow teachers to work from home till that period.
