MAPUSA: Mapusa Police have registered a case against an 18-year-old rider for rash and negligent driving after he allegedly knocked down a pedestrian at Angod, Mapusa.
According to police, the complaint was filed by HC Sagar V. Agarwadekar of Mapusa Police Station on behalf of the State. The incident occurred on March 25, 2026, when Sufiyan Gaous Nesarikar, 18, a resident of Khorlim, Mapusa, was riding a motorcycle bearing registration number MH-09-HD-9851 without a valid driving licence.
Police said the rider was proceeding on the one-way road from Municipal Market, Mapusa towards Tar-Bastora and was allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life. At around 10.15 am, near the Vodafone Gallery at Angod, the motorcycle reportedly dashed against pedestrian Pedrinha Dias, 56, a resident of Calizorwado, Moira.
As a result of the impact, Dias sustained serious bodily injuries. The accused rider also suffered injuries in the accident.
Mapusa Police have registered an offence and further investigation is in progress.
