PONDA: Unknown miscreants broke into the Shree Bhavani Siddhapurush Prassanna Temple at Par, Khandepar, in the early hours of Tuesday and decamped with cash from the donation box.
The offence was registered at Ponda Police Station under Cr No. 171/2025 for offences under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on a complaint filed by Prasad Satchit Parkar, treasurer of the temple and a resident of Dhavali, Ponda.
Parkar reported that the break-in occurred around 12:40 am on November 18. Police said the unidentified culprits gained entry by damaging and removing the metallic window grill of the temple. They then broke open three locks of the donation box and allegedly stole between ₹12,000 and ₹13,000 in cash.
The intruders also forced open a metallic cupboard kept inside the temple.
