PANAJI: The government has chosen to expand its ongoing tenant verification campaign to industrial estates and workers temporarily employed for various projects in an effort to bolster security measures even more.
The verification process for migrant workers in industrial estates will soon begin, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, but he promised that it wouldn’t interfere with regular business as usual.
“Tenant verification will be required of migrant workers in industrial estates. To guarantee seamless operation, the Labour and Police departments will coordinate the process. Businesses who don’t comply will be asked to do so, Sawant stated.
The chief minister recognized a few rare cases involving migrants but reiterated that Goa is still completely safe. He disclosed that 70,000 tenants had been confirmed thus far and asked Goans for their support.
In the future, contractors that hire temporary workers will have to have them confirmed, said Sawant, who is also the Home Minister. There have been a few occurrences at (construction) sites. He added that the renter verification procedure has now been shifted online for convenience and stated, “We want to curb that.”
Sawant restated the security protocols of Goa. For both solitary and group travelers, including women, Goa is completely safe. Our police services, such as the Pink Force and helplines, are available. There have been no single occurrences found,” he continued.
Sawant emphasized how important law enforcement is to maintaining security. “Police need to be proactive in spotting questionable people. He mentioned recent incidents in which tourists were implicated in crimes against Goans to illustrate his point that “ensuring locals’ safety from tourists is just as important as ensuring tourists’ safety.”
