The tender for a state-of-the-art revolving restaurant and viewing gallery on top of new Zuari bridge will be issued shortly.
The tower that will showcase Goa’s culture and handicrafts, will have boat connectivity, said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari after seeing the presentation on the same. He was speaking at inauguration ceremony of 4-Lane section from Loutolim Village to IDC, Verna on NH-566 today.
The 7.3 km 4-lane road costing Rs 230 crores will reduce travel distance from Ponda to Mormugao by 12 kms.
He advised the Goa government to submit a proposal to his ministry for a public transport system like Metro that will run on electricity. He also assured to sanction a flyover at Verna T-junction to do away with the signal at this crucial intersection. He further said that one lane of Panaji to Margao highway will be open before the imposition of code of conduct while remaining work be completed by next year. Proposed observatory tower on top of new Zuari bridge is the outcome of Gadkari’s out of box thinking and it will contribute immensely to the touristic development of the area, said chief minister Pramod Sawant. Goa received 10,500 crore worth investment through national highway ministry, said CM Sawant and added that State has requested the ministry to take up new Borim bridge and Western bypass on priority.
