PANAJI: The third edition of the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2026 has received an impressive response, drawing a total of 247 entries from players across Goa and reaffirming the tournament’s growing prominence in the state’s tennis calendar.
The competition, held in memory of Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar, will take place from March 21 to March 29 at the Panjim Gymkhana courts in the capital city. Backed by the Goa State Tennis Association and the DB Bandodkar and Sons Group, the event continues to expand its reach while offering a competitive platform for players across different age groups.
A significant portion of the entries has come from junior categories, which have attracted enthusiastic participation from young players. The boys under 12 division has 10 participants, while eight players have entered the girls under 12 category. In the under 14 section, 14 boys and nine girls will compete. The under 18 category has also seen strong interest, with 17 boys and 11 girls registering for the event.
The masters categories are expected to feature experienced competitors as well. The men’s 45 plus singles category has drawn 31 entries, along with seven teams in the 45 plus doubles event. The men’s 60 plus singles category has 10 participants, while the 60 plus doubles event will see seven teams battling for honours.
The open categories make up the largest segment of the tournament. A total of 56 players have entered the men’s singles draw, while the ladies’ singles category has attracted 21 competitors. In the doubles competitions, 21 teams will participate in men’s open doubles, eight teams in ladies’ doubles, and 15 pairs in the mixed doubles category.
The tournament will also include an open wheelchair category with two entries, reflecting efforts to make the event more inclusive and accessible.
With a mix of seasoned players and emerging talent, the tournament is expected to deliver competitive matches and further strengthen the development of tennis in Goa.
