PONDA: Tension prevailed at Usgao yesterday evening following water logging and rise in level on the access road of Villagers at Dhatwada.
The Villagers gathered in front of one company office seeking clarification for blocking the flow of rainwater by constructing a compound wall by the side of road access.
Citizens were forced to face waterlogging on the access road which prevented their entry to their houses. School-going children, women, elderly fell in the potholes and got injured moving through water-logged streets.
They said it also poses risks to the lives of school-going children. The villagers said one company is causing heavy air pollution in the area.
According to locals, this public road is situated between the compound walls of two companies at Dhatwada Usgao. The villagers allege these compound walls are encroaching on roads without leaving space for the flow of rainwater, which causes waterlogging on the road, making it difficult for their movement.
The Villagers said two companies had constructed a compound wall alongside their access road without leaving space for the flow of rainwater. It led to water logging up to a height of one meter and made it villagers difficult to use the access road.
The villagers had demanded action against two Companies for constructing a wall on an access road without leaving space for gutters.
The villagers said they had filed a complaint with Panchayat in 2018; however, RTI by villagers reveals that Panchayat has no records about compound construction by those companies.
Therefore they filed complaint with Ponda Deputy Collector in 2019 and 2021 and the Deputy town planner in 2021.
The Villagers want the government to find a solution as the wet road up to one meter during heavy rain causes hardship as it becomes difficult to go through water logged road.
