PANAJI: It has come to our attention that certain media reports have misrepresented the events during the recent visit of AICC Goa Desk In-Charge, Manikrao Thakare, to Goa.
The reports suggesting that Thakare expressed dissatisfaction with the local leadership or that there was any conflict with GPCC President Amit Patkar are completely false and misleading.
During his three-day visit to Goa, Manikrao Thakare held highly productive and positive meetings in all four blocks—Mormugao, Santa Cruz, Cumbarjua, and Saligao.
Contrary to the misreported claims, Thakare expressed satisfaction with the work being carried out by the local blocks, especially in the face of adversity since the defection of MLAs in September 2024.
Thakare appreciated the resilience and dedication shown by the Congress workers, who have continued their efforts despite the challenges posed by defections. His meetings were marked by constructive discussions, and he commended the leadership and grassroots workers for their continued commitment to the party’s values and progress.
It is crucial to clarify that the narrative about Thakare being upset with GPCC President Amit Patkar or any other member is completely unfounded. Thakare has always worked closely with the state leadership, MLA’s & MP and the relationship remains strong.
During his next visit Thakare will visit the remaining 4 constituencies where defection took place in 2022.
Thakare also requested that the media refrain from reporting false information that could create unnecessary demoralization among grassroots workers, who are the backbone of the Congress party. Such reports harm the morale of the party’s dedicated members who are tirelessly working to strengthen the party and serve the people of Goa.
The Congress party is united, and under the leadership of Amit Patkar, we will continue to fight for the people of Goa, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights protected.
