PARRA: A man from Rajasthan has been booked for allegedly causing an accident and fleeing the scene after his vehicle collided with an oncoming scooter at Parra.
According to a state complaint lodged by HC Nilesh Ghadi (HC 5874) of Mapusa Police Station, the incident occurred on November 17, 2025, at around 7:15 am near Shantadurga Bar, Lingabhat, Parra. The accused, Karan Ravi Gupta (30), a resident of Jaipur and driver of a Mahindra Thar (GA-03-V-3033), was reportedly driving from Nagoa towards Mapusa in a rash and negligent manner.
Police stated that Gupta allegedly veered to the extreme right side of the road and crashed into a scooter (MH-04-FN-6152) coming from the opposite direction.
The scooter rider, 21-year-old Nikita Shivaji Chavan, and pillion rider, 13-year-old Narendra Shivaji Chavan, both from Revora, sustained grievous injuries.
Despite knowing that an accident had occurred, the accused allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle without providing assistance or informing the police, and moved the vehicle to a location to conceal the offence. Further investigation is underway.
